The OESO-SEMPIRE 17th World Conference – Esophagus 2026
Every effort was made to ensure that this 17th Congress of OESO would be on par with the 16 previous ones!
- First, the venue chosen for the event: Versailles!
Versailles, a name synonymous with legend, was opened to us for our congress.
The exceptional authorizations granted by Mr Pierre-Emmanuel Lecerf, President of the Domaine de Versailles, to a private organization like ours to access certain parts of the Domain gave participants the opportunity to enjoy a very special program of festivities. Among these offers were a custom-designed equestrian show, a private tour of the Carriage Gallery, and private access to the historical Jeu de Paume Hall where the French Republic was born, and in which the members of the new OESO Board read before all the congress attendees, beneath the statue of Bailly’s oath, the text of the OESO Charter...
Although the schedule for the final afternoon of the congress had to be altered due to the unexpected visit by... the US President Donald Trump, those who were with us benefited nevertheless from a host of memories that would remain with them a long time.
- The top level scientific program which, as it has been since the very beginning of the OESO, was multidisciplinary, this year included 15 sessions in a new format that has since become the standard for future OESO events: a 50-minute “chat” between the speakers and the audience.
The attendees represented over 40 countries, and gathered in three auditoriums operating simultaneously to hear answers to specific questions that had been formulated in detail by the members of the Scientific Committee.
The excellence of the presentations, the stimulating discussions, and the fruitful exchanges between participants contributed to making this congress a truly enriching experience. The active engagement of all speakers, chairpersons, and attendees created an exceptional atmosphere of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- The Platform for Excellence in Esophagology, with a memorable session welcoming 3 new Pilot Centers joining those already spread across the five continents, can now be considered as the spearhead of OESO-SEMPIRE in shaping its future.
Yes, this 17th congress, bringing together leading experts from around the world in Versailles was an outstanding scientific event.
The Organizing Committee extends its sincere gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions, which played a key role in the remarkable success of this edition of the OESO-SEMPIRE World Conference.
