Gatherings in Esophagology (GiE)

The latest, innovative OESO-SEMPIRE project, proposes a series of “Gatherings in Esophagology” (GiE) at Royaumont in the period between two OESO international congresses, thus maintaining a continuous flow of interest in Esophagology.

The GiEs should in no way be regarded as mini congresses.

Their aim is to offer top scientific exchanges with world renowned KOLs representing one of the 16 disciplines brought together in the Permanent Scientific Committee of OESO.

  • Their original format will comprise 6 sessions of questions, each of them preceded by a “Chat” between the KOLs and the audience to introduce the questions to follow, explain their design and discuss their terms.
  • thirty minute discussion ends each session.

The GiEs will be offered to a limited number of participants, ranging from 60 to around 80. They will offer a rare opportunity for KOLs and Juniors to live together for 36 hours, morning to evening, in an intimate atmosphere to foster open discussions and networking.

This new initiative is in line with the mission of the OESO-SEMPIRE Platform of Excellence for Esophageal health in the field of Education. It illustrates the continuity of OESO's action program in the international scientific community.

The  Cistercian Abbey of Royaumont is a cultural center, home to the Fondation pour le progrès des Sciences de l'Homme (Foundation for the Progress of Human Sciences), founded by Professor Jacques Monod, a Nobel Prize winner in Medicine.

The Abbey is an historic site near Chantilly, dating from the 13th century, located 20 minutes from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport. This prestigious venue, in a site of exceptional beauty, regularly hosts high-profile cultural events (concerts, conferences). 50 rooms are available in the Abbey, and 3 hotels are available nearby.
