The Veracruz Pilot Center for Functional and Structural Esophagology provides multidisciplinary assessment and management of esophageal disorders by integrating gastroenterology, esophagogastric surgery, gastrointestinal pathology, advanced endoscopy, and gastrointestinal physiology. Its principal clinical and research lines include gastroesophageal reflux disease and its complications, functional esophageal disorders, achalasia and other motility disorders, Chagas esophagopathy, caustic ingestion, Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal assessment related to obesity and bariatric surgery.
Its diagnostic capabilities include high-resolution and magnification endoscopy, high-resolution esophageal manometry, ambulatory pH monitoring and pH-impedance monitoring using multiple systems, and barostat studies. EndoFLIP is planned for incorporation. The Center also conducts normative physiological studies and supports multidisciplinary clinical evaluation, education, and research.
